In 2018, Hoang completed the Adverse Drug Reaction Project at Lafayette General Medical Center which eliminated potential side effects of medications and improved patient safety. In his free time, he volunteered at North Cypress Medical Center and its central supply to provide patients with daily necessities such as socks, toothpaste, fresh clothes, and soap. Hoang joined VAPhA because he wanted to make a difference in the community as well as assist in the development of student pharmacists.
